Design of the Week #3: Queesra & King
First of all, we have to confess that these updates have not been weekly at all! We do apologise as Christmas is a busy period, but we’ll be back on track in no time.
At Jarilo we love working with local business and Queesra & King is no exception. Providing high quality, tailor-made suits in the heart of Neston, we knew this website would need to show class and professionalism. Matt, our head web designer, took this opportunity to try something new with mobile-friendly coding, and produced a brilliant website for a very happy client.

Matt answered a few questions about the design for us:
Q1. How long did this project take, from initiation to completion?
The project took roughly 4 weeks to complete, from the sale to completion and handover to the customer. The website underwent prototyping, designing and then developing during this time period.
Q2. Why are you particularly happy with this site? What makes it different from the rest?
The main selling point of the website for me is the imagery used. This is why I love it so much. The imagery really tells the viewer what the website is about, what the business does and makes the website very appealing to look at.
Q3. Did you find any elements more challenging than others? Did you have to do any specific research or require assistance for any particular part?
One of the main elements that was challenging in the design was the banner grid under the fading slider. When using WordPress we use a custom loop, in this loop the columns are set to a default pattern of 4 – 4 – 4. I’ve had to alter the way it outputs the loop so the pattern is set to display in: 8 – 4 – 4 – 8.
Q4. What influenced your decision for the colour scheme and layout?
The customer outlined in the brief the colours and style that they wanted. Originally, I was going to go with an all grey design but later discovered that the skin colour tone looks very natural and works extremely well with the imagery.
Queesra & King were delighted with the final product and are currently working on some of the final content for the site. One section in particular that our team is very proud of is how well the website performs on mobile. As demonstrated in the below images, the main menu is constantly in view at the bottom right of the screen, and opens up a simple navigation menu if clicked on. This required bespoke coding from Matt and greatly improves the mobile browsing experience for any customer on the page.
