Design of the Week: Barnaby Wilde Harley Davidson Parts
Continuing with our theme, this week we’re highlighting a new eBay store recently installed for Mark Cox, owner of Barnaby Wilde. His store specialises in Harley Davidson Parts. Mark approached Jarilo after speaking with some of our customers who had been benefiting from quality designs on their shops for a while – very thorough!

Once installed and fully functional, Mark said:
“Just a message to say thank you, the eBay shop is looking really good. And thank you for the professional and pleasant experience.”
This particular design featured several subtle elements which really bring the design together, such as the orange highlight of the store name in the main banner when you mouse over, and a similar effect was used on the “learn more” links. You can see these, and check out Mark’s products if you’re a Harley Davidson enthusiast, here.

We asked the designer Mark Harrison a few questions about this project:
Q1. How long did this project take from introduction to completion?
2/3 weeks from preview to installation
Q2. Why are you particularly happy with Barnaby Wilde? What makes it different from the rest?
The imagery on the design when paired with the animation on the categories and links makes it stand out from others in my opinion. Another element of this design that makes it stand out is the colour scheme. The images on the design are all fairly dark and then the white and orange elements of the design such as the logo and buttons make it stand out on the page perfectly. One of my favourite things about this design is that it’s relatively simple in terms of how much is included, however the way it all comes together makes it looks very clean and professional. One of my favourite designs this year!
Q3. Did you find any elements more challenging than others? Did you have to do any specific research or require assistance for any particular part?
I didn’t have any problems when designing the store, however myself and my colleague Dan coded it up together adding the animation to the Featured Category sections, the logo and a few other bits through the page. I feel that the animation used on this really brings the design to another level. This is something we are trying to do a lot more of recently and it worked particularly well with this design.
Q4. What influenced your decision for the colour scheme and layout?
When looking at the colour scheme I felt orange and black was an obvious combination since the seller specialises in Harley Davidson products. That was my first thought when I was assigned the project, so I ran with that and I think it has turned out really well. Having the orange and white on top of the dark images really makes the design look very modern and it stands out from other sellers.
