Who are you and what do you?
‘’I’m Matt, I am the Senior Front-End Web Developer at Jarilo Design. My day to day job consists of designing and developing the infrastructure of our client’s websites. I take the clients initial website design brief and make that into a physical and working product.
I also manage our team of designers to ensure the websites we create are delivered in a timely but realistic time frame, and that they meet the high quality Jarilo Design is well known for.’’
What type of clients do you work with?
‘’During my years at Jarilo Design, I have been privileged to work with a number of clients across a broad range of professions and industries; from the new business start-up, to the computer savvy online retailer (and everyone in between). If you have no clue about websites but want one, we’re here to help. If you have an existing site that needs new functionality or a brand-new look, we’re here for that too.’’
Why do clients need your help?
‘’The most common reasons clients seek our services is because they either (a), need a new website. Or (b), their existing website no longer reflects the brand of the business. Maybe the website no longer meets the customer’s needs. This could be an outdated design issue, the website may not be mobile responsive, there could be user experience complaints or the website runs too slow to function. There are lots of reason clients use a web designer but my days are mostly spent crafting new websites for clients who understand the importance of having a well-designed and functional website.’’
In your opinion what makes a good web designer?
‘’A good web designer is many things, but a great designer is an excellent listener. As a designer, you need to be able to listen closely to what your client is trying to communicate so you can translate that into a website that reflects the brand you are working with.’’
How Important is a website for business?
‘’A website is incredibly important for business. It’s an online shop front that’s open 24/7. If you don’t have a website, you fail to remain competitive in the online market place. If you do have a website but it fails to meet the expectations of today’s consumer, they will simply look elsewhere. If your website is not working for you, then we’re here to help.’’
How much does a website cost?
‘’That’s a tricky question to answer because no two websites are the same. One client may require a simple 3-page basic information website and new logo, whereas another may want a full ecommerce store with all the bells and whistles. We discuss the client’s website requirements during the website design consultation and always provide competitive quote that reflects the size of the design and build’’
What advice do you give to your clients after the website is built?
‘’We are always on standby to offer post-design support but my advice is to always stay on top of your content, update regularly and make sure that your business contact details and enquiry forms are all correct and working. Your website is your money-making tool so don’t neglect it!
